Jeff Beck Dies At Age 78

Merakyat.org – Influential rock and roll guitar master, Jeff Beck, has passed away at the age of 78. Beck rose to stardom with the 1960s supergroup, the Yardbirds, and later went on to have a successful solo career. He was a guitar virtuoso and innovator who was also known for his interpretation of rhythm and blues. Beck died “peacefully” after contracting bacterial meningitis.

Tributes have poured in from rock icons such as Ozzy Osbourne and Kiss lead singer, Gene Simmons, who called Beck’s passing “heartbreaking.” Simmons posted on Twitter, “No one played guitar like Jeff.

Please get ahold of the first two Jeff Beck Group albums and behold greatness. RIP.” Mick Jagger hailed Beck as “one of the greatest guitar players in the world.” Punk-poet laureate Patti Smith wrote, “He was quiet as moccasined feet, yet mercurial, innovative, impossible to categorize.

One of the masters of my generation.” Beck was an eight-time Grammy winner and was twice inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He will be remembered as a guitar master, innovator, and one of the greatest guitar players of all time. His family has asked for privacy while they process this tremendous loss.
